![]() ![]() There are times where such a condition is nearly unavoidable – like when it’s the result of some illness or genetic issue – but more often than not there are ways of dealing with such situations. A face which is reddened, inflamed, peeling, or acne-ridden, well, it’s probably not the look you are going for. And then there are times when it has little or nothing to do with aging, and everything to do with the way we look, period. There is a lot to be said for aging gracefully, but even those of us who are inclined to go down that road – well, sometimes we want to slow time down, if only a little. And one of the best ways to achieve that is by using face cream. Because of this, it’s important to keep the face looking well. It plays a large role in interpersonal communication. It’s how we present and express ourselves to the world (to some degree). Your face is usually one area which is more or less always in view, even if the rest of your body is hidden. The face is one of our most prominent areas. The Importance Of Using Face Cream Explained This is partly why you should keep your creams separate, and use each in its appropriate time. There are fewer interruptions, and this means that night cream utilizes ingredients which are more suitable for your body’s downtime. At night, the body is at rest, and the skin has the time to regenerate at a faster pace. During the day, there is a lot more to contend with: weather, makeup, pollution, and things like hands and phones which are always touching our face. Each has their own purpose and more or less unique ingredients. And I wasn't even wearing any of my highlighters or my many tubes of Touche Éclats. The very dry, very ‘Webster Dictionary’ definition of face cream is: “ cosmetic cream applied to the face to improve the complexion.” Many cosmetics and beauty companies all around the world have their own version of various creams which are meant to be applied to the face and improve the way that it feels, the way it looks, and the way it reacts to makeup, weather, and other everyday elements. Not one, but two people actually told me I was glowing in the same night. Still, after about a week of using the cream, I got compliments on my skin. It's been three weeks now and I'm still waiting for the sunspots on my cheekbones to fade - I've noticed a slight difference, but they're tricky to treat and definitely still around. And I wore it occasionally at night it's got a sweet, somewhat chemically scent that I could notice as I was drifting off to sleep. I used it in the morning under sunscreen, since it doesn't have its own SPF, but is light enough to layer (and has antioxidants like vitamin E). (It's also got antioxidant niacinamide to calm redness over time and amino peptides for sun spots, which are pluses for me.) We decided this cream was a keeper, but the instant brightening effects weren't as obvious on her deeper, olive skin tone. But she perked up when she saw my skin get brighter and more even in front of our eyes, like a mini magic act. I thought maybe the whole brighter skin thing was in my mind, so I brought my pot into the office, and put the moisturizer on the back of one hand in front a colleague, which I can only imagine was super fun for her. ![]() Because when I put on the cream, it was actually able to brighten up my fair skin without any of the shimmer or glitter some other luminizing creams rely on. The next thing I noticed was the color of the cream. When I took my new jar out of the box, the first thing I noticed was that it felt heavy and luxe in my hand (surprising for a drugstore product). Trying out Olay Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream was right up my alley. It explains why my bathroom is stocked with rich creams, hydrating masks, sheet masks, face oils, shimmery highlighters, cream blushes, and tubes of Touche Éclat. Luminous, dewy, glowy - these are all words I would very much like to associate with my own skin. ![]()
